Shopping in Tinjiang Lane with Thom

Great shopping in quaint alleys-little independent stores. Can’t wait to go back and spend some yuan. I have to get used to haggling over prices. So far, I saw a necklace and some pillow cases that I just have to have.

Slowly moving forward

The offer is now in hand and the details are being worked out.  This will be a complicated move in many ways–the transfer of our precious puppy to our daughter, completely new benefits and banking along with finding a new home and moving our possessions across a sea.  We started our finances moving in the right direction with an HSBC account here and one to come locally in China.  We will be able to move money back and forth (within China guidelines) and pay bills in both countries, of which there will be many complex transactions involving dual taxation.  Oh joy!

Reality setting in

The financial arrangements for living in China are complex. I can see we will be learning how to be paid in RMB, pay China taxes, etc. I made a great connection today with HSBC premier account services. Sounds like a great global solution.
